Karan Johar, Ranveer Singh, Arjun Kapoor and others under scanner after AIB's Roast show
In
December last year, 4000 people were witness to one of the biggest and
hottest celebrity roast shows ever with AIB's Knockout Roast session.
While videos of the session that featured filmmaker Karan Johar went
viral earlier this month generating immense hype of video sharing and
social networking sites, we hear that the makers of the show have landed
in hot water. In fact the Maharashtra Government and the Mumbai Police
have initiated separate investigations into the show after complaints of
the use of 'abusive and filthy' language.
This inquiry launched by the Mumbai Police comes after a four page
written complaint had been lodged by Akhilesh Tiwari, president of the
Brahman Ekta Seva Sanstha in Mumbai, at the Sakinaka police station,
claiming that the trio of Ranveer Singh, Arjun Kapoor and Karan Johar,
along with other performers allegedly passed abusive and offensive
remarks against one another and even at the audience. Further in his
complaint, Tiwari sought a criminal complaint to be lodged against
Johar, Kapoor and Singh as well as the show organisers, among others,
stating that the show is not only ruining the clean image of the Indian
culture & women, but is also misleading today's youth.
Simultaneously, the Education and Culture Minister Vinod Tawde ordered a
probe stating that the culture department would examine the videos'
content and if found vulgar, action would be initiated against the
organizers. Apart from this, Tawde also stated that the initial
investigation has indicated that the show was performed without a proper
performance licence for which an FIR will be lodged against them.
The AIB Roast that featured known personalities like Rajeev Masad, and
Raghu Ram in addition to Karan Johar, Arjun Kapoor and Ranveer Singh
along with the members of AIB also featured leading female Bollywood
actors like Sonakshi Sinha, Deepika Padukone and Alia Bhatt in the
audience.
