In a hearing of Sahil Khan’s anticipatory bail application yesterday, the actor’s lawyer submitted some photographs to the Sessions Court, which he said were of intimate moments shared by his client and Ayesha Shroff. Ayesha, who is married to actor Jackie Shroff, had filed a case against Khan in November alleging he had cheated her to the tune of Rs 5 crore.
Sahil’s advocate told the court: “The prosecution is alleging that Sahil did not give back the gifts which Ayesha had asked him to buy with the money given by her an expensive car for her husband, an expensive watch and a pair of diamond earrings.
They have not conducted any investigation into the car because Sahil had never received any such money from Ayesha and the allegations are false.” “If she is saying that theirs was a business relationship, why did she ask Sahil to buy all this for her?
I also want to submit the compromising photographs of Sahil and Ayesha, which will prove what kind of relationship they had. It will be better if this session is in camera, as asked by Sahil himself,” the advocate said, before submitting ten photographs and some travel documents.
Public Prosecutor Iqbal Solkar said, “Once Ayesha told Sahil that she wanted to buy an expensive car for her husband, Sahil said that he would help her get a discount, after which Ayesha gave him R1 crore. Later, she gave him money to buy an expensive watch for her son and diamond earrings for her daughter.
After some time, Ayesha called Sahil asking for the gifts, but Sahil said he was in Thailand. After a few days Ayesha started searching for Sahil and found him in the gym. She saw that he was wearing the watch and the earrings and had the car with him.”
On the photographs of Sahil and Ayesha, Solkar said, “This case is one of cheating and not about personal relations. The court should not entertain the photographs as they do not concern the matter at hand.
Also, if you (the defence) are showing such photos, we need the source as they could be morphed. We need Sahil’s custody so that we can investigate about the cheating, the gifts that he has not given back and about the phone from which the pictures were taken.”
The matter was also argued by Ayesha’s counsel, who said that the photographs were bogus and argued along the same lines as the public prosecutor. The final hearing in the case will be held on Wednesday, when the judge is expected to give his orders.
