Ajay Devgn is a two-time National Award winner winning the award for his sensitive role in 'Zakhm' and that of revolutionary Bhagat Singh in 'The Legend of Bhagat Singh'.

Amitabh Bachchan has won four National Awards in his long filmy career. He was adjudged the Best Actor for 'Agneepath', 'Black' and 'Paa' while bagging the Best Newcomer award for his debut film 'Saat Hindustani'.

Anil Kapoor won the National Film Award for Best Actor for his performance in 'Pukar'. It was in the same year that Raveena Tandon won the Best Actress Award for 'Daman' following which an ugly controversy kicked up with jury members alleging interference by a "cynical political cartel" and had turned the whole affair "into a farce".

Arjun Rampal slammed the notion that 'models can't act' with his National Award win for Best Supporting Actor for his role in 'Rock On'. Many did raise eyebrows at the decision but Arjun's sensitive portrayal of a guitarist brought out the actor in him and received praise from all quarters

Kangna Ranaut's role as a troubled model in 'Fashion' fetched her the National Award for Best Supporting Actress. Alongside Priyanka Chopra, Kangna made the film a treat to watch and rightly deserved the award.

After wowing everyone with her performance in 'Fashion', Priyanka Chopra completed her win on a high with a National Award for Best Actress conferred upon her.

Saif Ali Khan surprised everyone including himself when he scooped the Best Actor Award for 'Hum Tum'. His win raised quite a few murmurs questioning the credibility of the awards, which became full blown after Saif was conferred the Padmashri.

Known for her magnificent acting prowess in Bollywood, Tabu has been declared the Best Actress twice over. She deservedly won the National Award for her roles in 'Maachis' and 'Chandni Bar'.
